HTI Archives

The Archives of Takoma Park, Maryland and the adjoining District of Coumbia neighborhood of Takoma contains print and non-print resources about this once vacation community that abuts the Nation's Capitol. Developed by Benjamin Gilbert in 1883, Takoma Park is home to over 18,500 residents and is a community reflecting fine examples of typical architectural styles of its 129-year history.

The archives is attempting to capture information about those who once lived in the community, their homes, and cultural and newsworthy events through time. Locally, there are a number of other institutions and repositories with materials related to the history of Takoma Park and Takoma, D.C.
