  • In the past 5 years, the Maryland historic preservation tax credit program has stimulated $797 million in new investment in historic properties.
     
  • In the next 10 years, the Maryland historic preservation tax credit program is projected to stimulation $2.19 billion in new investment

  • Historic preservation saves natural resources by recycling buildings, reducing waste, and saving the environment.

  • Historic preservation encourages investments in existing neighborhoods and communities and stabilizes and strengthens them

Progressive Public Policy

  • In addition to creating jobs, protecting the environment, and preserving communities, Maryland’s historic preservation tax credit program can also be combined with the Federal low income tax credit programs to create affordable housing.

Traffic Reduction

  • According to the US Environmental Protection Administration, the Maryland historic preservation tax credit program has already reduced personal and employment related travel by 16.38 million miles per year, and eliminated the release of 337.4 tons of air pollutants per year in Baltimore alone.

Not Just for Baltimore

  • There are over 3,400 historic properties in Montgomery County. Montgomery County communities need the preservation tax credit program.
